- Track 1: Tuesdays, 5:15 p.m. – 6:45 p.m.
- Track 2: Wednesdays, 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

What You’ll Learn: The 6-Week Roadmap
Week 1: Leadership Intro & Ethics
Uncover the core values that guide your decisions, navigate tough ethical dilemmas, and build a solid foundation for values-based leadership.
Week 2: Leadership Styles & Strengths
Discover your unique leadership style, leverage your natural strengths, and develop a growth mindset to adapt when challenges arise.
Week 3: Community & Belonging
Explore how your identity shapes your approach to leadership and learn practical strategies to foster inclusive, equitable team environments.
Week 4: High-Impact Communication
Master active listening, articulate your ideas clearly, and practice effective communication strategies across different group settings.
Week 5: Effective Collaboration
Learn how your personal working style fits into group dynamics, adapt to different team personalities, and accomplish shared goals seamlessly.
Week 6: Goal Setting & Your Leadership Philosophy
Evaluate your growth using the Aspen Index assessment, craft your personal leadership philosophy, and set actionable SMART goals for your future.
Organizational Leadership Track (Spring 2027)
Level up your student organization. Motivate your team. Lead real organizational change.
Offered in collaboration with the Student Organization Resource Center (SORC), this hands-on 6-week program is designed specifically for student leaders on campus. Work alongside peers from other organizations to tackle group dynamics, resolve conflict, motivate members, and build a thriving organization culture.

Week 1: Organization Evaluation & Assessment
Connect with fellow campus leaders, assess the current health of your student organization, and start drafting an actionable plan for strategic improvement.
Week 2: Communication & Structural Tensions
Analyze how your org communicates, discover the strengths and drawbacks of your current organizational setup, and learn how to navigate structural friction effectively.
Week 3: Member Motivation & Team Dynamics
Master intrinsic vs. extrinsic motivation techniques to boost member engagement, and explore four distinct styles of team contribution to help your members thrive.
Week 4: Conflict, Power, & Problem Solving
Understand your personal conflict style, turn disagreements into productive decision-making, and learn how to ethically leverage different sources of power within a team.
Week 5: Negotiation & Practical Delegation
Navigate politics and conflict within your organization, overcome common barriers to success, and practice delegating tasks to peers with confidence.
Week 6: Org Culture & Mission/Vision Workshop
Uncover the hidden cultural habits shaping your organization, build cultural competency, and translate your core values into a refreshed mission statement.
Benefits of Participating
There are many benefits to participating in the Terrapin Leadership Institute. Each participant receives the opportunity to receive the following:
- Letter of Recommendation. Receive a personalized letter from your peer facilitator(s) outlining your performance and skills developed through TLI. This can be used when apply for jobs, internships, as well as campus or community organizations!
- Resume Workshop. Following TLI, you will be offered a session on the best way to include TLI on your resume and how to best communicate the learning and knowledge gained through TLI.
- Community. By participating in TLI, you are joining a community of life-long learners and leaders. You'll be able to meet and network with campus leaders with a variety of backgrounds, interests, and future goals. It's a great place to start building your network and form lasting relationships.
- Organization Leadership Fund. Participants who complete a TLI Track (received a certificate) can receive up to $200 credit towards Supplies, Food Court Catering, Stamp Events hosted by the organization. This is distributed per organization not per student.
