TerpsVote

TerpsVote is a nonpartisan initiative that seeks to increase civic engagement, build positive voting behavior, and make voting information accessible. TerpsVote invites students, faculty, and staff to join the initiative!

TerpsVote offers a customizable course module that includes a lesson plan (up to 90 minutes) and PowerPoint for UMD faculty and staff to use. The module includes activities about how to vote, the importance of voting, and the impact of elected officials on college students. Click here for more information!

 

Services 24/7

Services 24/7 is a virtual resource that increases the capacity of the University of Maryland community to work with nearly 300 nonprofit organizations and campus departments. Services 24/7 offers diverse opportunities to connect with local events, groups, and causes. This resource also encourages community engagement by offering a space to review and reflect on volunteer experience.

 

Maryland Democracy Initiative

Maryland Democratic Initiative works towards a fairer and more just society by growing 5 capacities of people: civic competence, knowledge, opportunity, agency, and respect. To pursue this mission, the Maryland Democratic Initiative uses innovative interdisciplinary, community-centered research, teaching, learning, and civic engagement. Transform Mid-Atlantic

Transform Mid-Atlantic holds the Service-Learning & Civic Engagement Conference (SLCE) open to students, faculty and staff at institutions in D.C., Maryland, and Delaware. The SLCE Conference offers full-day panels, discussions, professional development and networking opportunities! The SLCE Conference is usually held in late-March or early-April.

Transform Mid-Atlantic

Transform Mid-Atlantic Civic Fellowship (TMACF) is a program that connects student leaders to develop their knowledge, leadership skills, and understanding of civic engagement. This fellowship is fit for students who are engaged global citizens, actively contributing to the creation of equitable, healthy, sustainable, and socially just communities. TMA’s member presidents are invited to nominate one student from their campus. Click here for more information!

The Transform Mid-Atlantic Faculty Development Mini Grant Program supports member faculty that seek to enhance student learning and engagement. The program awards up to $10,000 each year to help faculty initiate or continue programs related to civic and community engagement, service-learning, community-based learning and research. and collaborative intercampus and community-based partnerships. AmeriCorps is an agency that connects volunteers and nonprofit organizations to tackle challenges in the United States. Peace Corps

Peace Corps is an agency that builds and maintains relationships with global communities through volunteer opportunities. Peace Corps supports volunteers so they can live and work with community members to grow, teach, learn and create change. Global Leadership & Civic Engagement Exchange with The Hong Kong Polytechnic University

We have partnered with the Hong Kong Polytechnic University to offer the Global Leadership and Civic Engagement Exchange Fellowship which is a program focused on global leadership and service-learning. The goal of this exchange is to develop students' global citizenship, broaden students' perspectives on service-learning, and nurture motivated students to become service-learning leaders. To work towards these goals, this program offers direct and project-based service-learning opportunities in non-profit immersions, activities, and local field trips.
