MICA Presents: (Dis)Orienting Diaspora
Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month (AAPIHM) 2020
This year's theme situates us in the borderlands of imperialism, capitalism, and multiplicity. It challenges us to contest hxstory, belonging, and home. It calls for us to reclaim place, time, and solidarities. It reminds us of the importance of diaspora, and the implication it has in our everyday lived experiences and the impacts we've made.
It reminds us that in the midst of a global pandemic, we are, indeed a community. In a time that is very disorienting, we are reminded of the resilience of the AAPI community, and our commitement to resisting racism, xenophobia, capitalism, ableism, ageism, and other forms of systemic violence, alongside all marginalized communities. We are celebrating and paying homage to our roots. We are (Dis)Orienting Diaspora.
