Location: The Vista Lounge, The Unity Center
Come and decorate and create in preparation for Día de Muertos! Come beautify our spaces and create a community ofrenda (altar). You'll learn to make paper marigold flowers and calaveras, and have an opportunity to print and decorate images of your deceased loved ones to add to our altar or take home to your own. We'll have community, snacks, drinks, and pan de muerto to enjoy.
MICA is hosting the community altar October 23 through Nov. 5 in the Vista Lounge at the Unity Center. All are welcome to bring photos and offerings to honor those we've lost at any time, regardless of if you attend the crafting event.
Día de Muertos, Day of the Dead, is a unique Mexican holiday celebrating life and death while honoring deceased loved ones. Día de los Muertos consists of two nights of celebration (Día de los Angelitos and Día de los Difuntos) welcoming the dead as families honor the spirits of their loved ones to briefly reunite and celebrate together.
