How many times can we be told we are living in "unprecedented times?" That "the horrors" are endless but so is the hope? As days get darker, literally and figuratively, we as human beings have always turned to storytelling to survive. In this workshop, writer Shaawan Francis Keahna invites participants to draw on their lived experiences to create stories of the weird and woeful.
Shaawan Francis Keahna (shah-wun fran-sis key-aw-nuh) is a writer and independent researcher based out of Baltimore, Maryland. His work centers around family history as a locus for nation-building, anti-lifestyle, divestment from the attention economy, and dreamscapes. Shaawan is an enrolled member of the White Earth Band of Minnesota Ojibwe and a descendent of the Meskwaki Nation. His work has been published most recently in Tension Literary, the Hoxie Gorge Review, matchbooklitmag, and is forthcoming in the Indigenous horror anthology Never Whistle at Night II: Back for Blood.
