Latine Heritage Month
Latine Heritage Month (LHM) at UMD is celebrated from September 15th to October 15th, and provides our campus with the opportunity to honor and celebrate the cultures, histories and resistance of Latin Americans and the diaspora.
The Office of Multicultural Involvement & Community Advocacy (MICA) is proud to facilitate the creation of a campus-wide calendar of events for Latine Heritage Month. In the 2026-2027 year, we are excited to share a unified theme for programming throughout the school year so that we can dive deeper in the inherent ties between communities and the interconnected nature of our collective liberation.
"Tend to Community"
Nestled here within the hills, bricks and train tracks of our campus we cultivate a special kind of garden. Our place is one of curiosity, connection and creativity, all grown from years of advocacy and gardened by multitudes ot students, staff and faculty just like you. We invite you to join us to sit, have a meal or a meeting, and share out bounty. This year, MICA's programming theme reminds us how working and building in coalition bears fruit only when we tend to it actively—side by side, hands together in the rich earth. The challenge is to reach beyond our own familiar plot of land and ralize that if our neighbor flourishes, so do we. So come, roll up your sleeves with us, and tend to community.
