Memorial Chapel

About Us

Memorial Chapel

The Memorial Chapel offers a serene respite  from the hectic pace of campus.  The doors are open throughout the year  to the campus community, to alumni, and to the communities beyond campus.  All faiths, cultures, and ways of being are welcome in the majestic building and adjacent gardens.  Dedicated on October 12, 1952, the multifaith Memorial Chapel stands in honor of members of the University of Maryland community who lost their lives serving our country in the United States Armed Forces.

Serving as the center for religious life on the campus, the Chapel is fitting venue for weddings and services of remembrance; the facility also may be rented for lectures, concerts, convocation services, and commencement ceremonies. Activities in the Chapel need not be religious in nature, but all events must respect the integrity of a place of worship.

A multifaith facility, worship services at Memorial Chapel are as varied as the 14 faith communities represented by the University of Maryland Chaplaincies. For more information on religious life and worship times please contact these campus ministries directly at https://stamp.umd.edu/visit/memorial_chapel/chaplains
