There are a few different ways to get involved in the Alternative Breaks program, whether you're a student (undergrad or graduate) or Faculty/Staff!

Volunteer as a Participant

  • A great first opportunity to explore Alternative Breaks! 
  • Perfect for any student that wants to learn more about community development, civic engagement, local issues, leadership, and service.
  • Experiences will be offered during the university Winter Break, the entirety of Spring Break, and during Summer Break.

Become an Experience Leader

  • Perfect for students who are passionate about social justice & community service, and have a deep commitment to learning
  • Must commit to a full year of programming, including weekly trainings & modules, meetings with their AB Team, their AB Experience, and other AB related events! 
  • Gain transferrable skills and experience applicable to future personal, professional, and civic endeavors
  • Application now open! We are accepting applicants on a rolling basis this summer!

Support as a Staff Advisor

  • Serve as a learning partner/mentor for the student team by providing support, guidance and resources throughout planning, educational and experiential activities before, during and after the immersion experience. 
  • A great opportunity for personal development through participation in an extended service-learning experience
