Asian, Pacific Islander & Desi American Heritage Month: Waves That Move Us

For some, the wave is at the center of Asian, Pacific Islander, and Desi American culture, identity, history, and heritage. We are products of the currents of migration that bring us together just as the oceans keep us apart. 

The waves that move us make us braver. So, when we stand in the shadow of a tsunami that threatens to swallow us whole, we must face it headstrong. Let everyone know: we are moving beyond “sink or swim.” As the tides keep flowing, we decide how to adapt and learn. The waves that move us make us stronger. Teach each other how to swim. Celebrate surviving the worst. Lend a hand in strengthening our homes and schools.
